The Atlantic Avenue Art Walk is a weekend event featuring a self-guided tour of open studios, public art exhibitions, gallery shows, and special retail and restaurant events. This year the Art Walk will take place Saturday & Sunday June 4-5, 2005 from 1pm-6pm both days. All events are free and open to the public. Based on the response to the first tour, the Art Walk route has grown to double the number of open studios, exhibiting artists, and additional forums to experience the vibrant fine arts, culture, and community of this historic Brooklyn area. Sculpture, music, film, workshops, and new venues for arts and media programming that are youth and family oriented will be integral to the tour route and events slated for 2005. The Atlantic Avenue Art Walk is designed to highlight established and emerging area artists and grow awareness of the depth and extent of the fine art and culture on and around Atlantic Avenue. Participating artists will show a diverse range of work including painting, sculpture, photography, digital media, prints, ceramics, and textiles. A survey of past exhibitions of Art Walk05 artists demonstrates similar diversity including New Museum, Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA), London Fashion & Textile Museum, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Dyezu Experiment Tokyo, Williamsburg Art & Historical Center, Contemporary African Art Gallery, Metaphor Contemporart Art, New York Watercolor Society, and Brooklyn Museum. Fine artists interested in showing at Art Walk, view information how to register.
