THIRD ANNUAL ATLANTIC AVENUE ARTWALK - JUNE 3 & 4, 2006
The third annual Atlantic Avenue ArtWalk 2006 (ArtWalk06) will be held the weekend of June 3 - 4, 2006, 1pm - 6pm both days. Atlantic Avenue ArtWalk is a self-guided tour of open artist studios and area exhibitions, a range of public art projects, special events, and extensive local merchant participation. The tour provides a relaxed setting for dialogue, collecting, and for artists to discuss current bodies of work, while offering a glimpse into the creation process.

ArtWalk06 was designed to build awareness of the depth of historic Atlantic Avenue's cultural corridor by revealing its vibrancy and diversity, and develop a greater sense of community. The tour affords visitors new to Brooklyn and the locals alike the opportunity to meet their neighbors in the creative community, when artists and workshops around Atlantic Avenue open their doors to the public. Additionally, area organizations and businesses will host local artists' work and receptions, and many restaurants and bars will offer special rates to ArtWalkers throughout the weekend.

In 2005, ArtWalk featured over 100 emerging and established artists representing a great diversity of media including painting, sculpture, watercolor, photography, digital media, textiles, video and more. Artist portfolios and tour map will be published in May. Images of a range of artwork, paricipating artists, and event are available now for press and editors.

The Atlantic Avenue ArtWalk is produced by: COlab Projects and Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation with production support from Atlantic Avenue Betterment Association.

This event is made possible with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts. In Kings County the Decentralization Program is administered by the Brooklyn Arts Council, Inc. (BAC). All events are free and open to the public.
