+++ "My American Life" public performance piece by Michael Harrison Sheriff piece
about a man who cannot carry the weight of his everyday obligations placed upon him
by family and American society. He feels his life have been dictated by the ideal
of what an average American man should be, rather than what he wants to be.
He wears a 15 lb. American Flag Lapel Pin that is 56 inches in diagonal symbolizing
these pressures. If you do see him, and you have any idea as to how he can improve
his American life, offer advice, he is looking for help.

+++ Author/Illustrator Melanie Hope Greenberg reading and book signing. Books "Down in the Subway"
and "A City Is" which has won Bank Street Best Children's Book of the Year. Greenberg was also

+++ Axelle Fine Arts will open its print studio to the public – view a range of print techniques
presented by their master printer. Described by NY Arts Magazine as a print studio in a "beautiful
Art Deco building [where] they do high-end graphics producing editions for local art stars like
Inka Essenhigh and Matthew Barney."

cultural heroes and the vanishing parts of New York."

+++ In collaboration with ArtWalk06, Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC) will host its
Open Studio tour and Pier Show featuring over 300 artists combined in the adjacent neighborhoods of
Red Hook and Carroll Gardens - making the weekend Brooklyn's largest art event of the year.

+++ In honor of ArtWalk, New York Transit Museum will offer special 2-for-1 admission
-just mention ArtWalk06 & free kids' workshops with paid admission. New contemporary and
historical exhibits on view: The Art of Laura Cantor & Triborough Bridge Exhibit using architectural
drawings and models, artifacts, and original film footage to tell the story of the bridge.

+++ Micro Museum will hold its Audience "Best of Show" Party for the "Circus Surreal" 2006
group show which features 43 artists from 20 states. Visitors presenting an ArtWalk06 tour map
receive a gift at the door with $2 paid admission.

ARTWALK is a self-guided tour of open studios, public art, gallery shows, and special events in
Brooklyn, NY. Established and emerging artists open their studios to the public while area businesses
host local artists' work and receptions. ArtWalk06 provides a relaxed forum for viewing and
collecting art as well as learning about the work and process directly from the artists. Many area
restaurants and bars offer specials ArtWalkers all weekend.
